What are Math Calendars?
Several years ago I needed a simple activity that would give my students a reason to practice the mathematics they were learning in class and give their parents a glimpse into the math they were learning. A conversation starter is what I had in mind...an answer to the question "What did you do in Math today?". A local educator shared the idea of putting the problems in a calendar format and I loved the simplicity of her idea.
The content of the Math calendars reflects the curriculum and pacing chart of the Gwinnett County Public Schools. I do my best to provide practice of skills that have been taught as well as skills that are currently being taught in each grade level. An answer sheet is not provided simply because I want teachers and parents to complete the calendars WITH their student(s). These are meant to provoke conversation and collaboration.
The calendars are arranged by month and grade level. I will always have the previous month available. Contact me if you need a month that is not featured on the website.
Finally a word about "sharing". Please share this site and the calendars with anyone you please. My friends believe I'm giving away a fortune by making these available at no cost; however, what I know for certain is that I am rich beyond measure in the department of satisfaction. For a teacher, the most satisfying thing in the world is to know that a student is growing and learning because of your efforts. The only favor I ask is to give me credit where credit is due and forgive me when I make a mistake.
